Faitheist: On Taking Religious and Secular Identities Seriously, and the Importance of Interfaith Dialogue

October 13 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Please join us at this free, public lecture!

In a world where religious conflict is front page news and the number of people who identify as religious is declining, is the chasm of understanding between people of different faiths and the nonreligious growing wider? How can people of diverse religious affiliations identify shared values and build partnerships for the common good, and how can we honor and engage the many different religious and secular identities in our campus community? In this presentation and discussion, professor, author, and activist Chris Stedman will share his story—including how studying religion at a Lutheran university helped him understand his identity as an atheist—and invite participants to explore what people of all religious and philosophical worldviews can gain from being in dialogue, how we can better engage religious identity on campus, and how we can work together to improve the world we all share.

This event is co-sponsored by Student Affairs Office of Identity and Inclusion & the Center for Religion and Global Citizenry.
